Miracle in a bottle.... July 14, 2010 p-diggity This stuff is amazing. Meguiar's makes some great products, but this is probably their best. I'd venture to say that this is the best compound for the money out there. Unless you have severely damaged paint, this stuff will bring it back to life with ease. I've used this on two cars , one 16 years old, and one 21 years old - and it brought a faded slightly oxidized original paint job back to very respectable condition. Just do a before and after with this stuff on half of the roof of your car, and you will be blown away. A great first step in restoring worn paint - don't forget to follow it up with a good polish, #9 works well, then seal it in with a wax and you'll be set for a while.
Not bad for a consumer product. July 10, 2010 Stephen Murphy (Long Beach, Calif. USA) Yeah this stuff works pretty good at removing Oxidation and works good at removing scratches on soft paint. Don't buy this if you have Ceramic Clear Coat on your car cause it will definitely not work as good. Overall like I stated in the title "Not bad for a consumer product....
Awesome Product For The Price June 2, 2010 H. Ma I am basically car crazy, and I adore this product with much love cause it makes my life so much more easier. For those of you who got haze as a result of using this product, you need to read the directions carefully. For my Lexus GX, I wash it, then clay bar it, then use ultimate compound with my hands, then wax it with NXT 2.0 and leave it on overnight, wipe off, then leave another coat on the following night. This is what I do every year for my cars, and it is still in showroom condition, I mean fresh out of the factory conditon, since there is not a single scratch on it.
Not worthy of the Meguiar's name... May 25, 2010 G. Miller (Kentucky, USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this product in removing fine surface scratches from my black 2007 Chevy Cobalt. The paint is still in great condition and only has some minor surface scratches from automatic carwashes.
The first time I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound I used an orbital buffer. The instructions are quite vague and more or less state that all you have to do is rub the compound in a circular motion in a small area then buff away. So I figured if that was all you really had to do, an orbital buffer would be more than enough.
Wrong.
While Ultimate Compound is excellent at removing water spots (and even dead bugs and tar) it is horrible at removing swirl marks and fine scratches. I can use a simple wax and get the same results as with this "Ultimate" compound.
The second time around I decided to try the product on my victory red 2001 Chevy Blazer. Years of automatic car washes have really taken their toll on the paint, but not so much that it had lost all of its shine. Instead of the buffer, I used a 100% cotton terrycloth and some good ol' elbow grease. Unfortunately I got the same results as before.
I can get the same result that this product offers by using Turtle Wax Ice and in a fraction of the time.
Do I recommend this product? No
Will I buy this product again? Probably not
great polisher, don't use too much May 24, 2010 L. Szu Tao (San Jose, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A great product, don't confuse this with a wax, as this will "sand" down your clear coat / paint, which is how it removes scratches / corrosive stain and restore gloss.
It works great with a orbital buffer (don't even bother by hand with a whole car), will bring out the shine in about 5-6 passes (depending), you don't even need pressure, just one note, do not use too much on your buffing pad, as it needs to dry up a bit to buff to a shine, then there is minimum wipe off.
then of course now you can wax your car, just to protect and give extra gloss.
